What to wear to barre

I’ve been doing barre for over a year now, and it’s the only workout that I love and consistently stick with. With barre, I think “today, I get to work out”, not “ugh, I have to work out.” Of course, cute outfits help, and I always find I have cleaner lines and higher heels when I like my outfit (or so I like to think). I mostly find my workout pieces from Forever21 or TJmaxx.  Here are some items that I have really enjoyed incorporating into my barre wardrobe!

1. Open back tops – love these to keep cool and show off a cute strappy sports bra! If it’s chilly out, I’ll throw on my favorite green field jacket after class.

strappy sports bra 1 / strappy sports bra 2 (great dupe for lululemon free to be wild bra) / mesh sports bra / white open back top / (similar) draped open back top / (similar) open back ladder top / green field jacket (my favorite – so versatile!)

2. Knee-high grippy socks – I LOVE these socks – I have them in black and white. I got them at my barre studio in Atlanta but you can get them on shopbarresocks.com. I feel very trim in them, and I always have straighter legs and stronger toe points when I wear them.

3. Cutout/moto leggings – though classic black leggings will always be a staple for working out, I love finding leggings that have a little bit more detail to them. I’ve had my eye on these ornate cutout leggings since last fall, but they were sold out. However, they came back in stock recently and I jumped on them! Sadly, they quickly sold out again, but I have an alert set and will let you guys know when they come back in stock again. (I think they will bring them back since they have done it once before.) The quality is great for the price – they stay up and suck you in. I’ll wear cutout leggings with long barre socks, as pictured here:

Another type of leggings I love are the moto style leggings. Made popular by Alo Yoga, there are dupes popping up everywhere, but these are the best I have found. What makes them special is that the stitching and mesh moto detail is on the back of the leggings as well as the front. For under $25, you have to try them! I’ll wear moto leggings with short grippy socks – I love Shashi mesh socks because they are very thin and fit tighter on the feet.

If any of you are in Atlanta, I highly recommend checking out the Pink Barre studios. I had tried out several different barre studios in Atlanta and this was my favorite. Now that I’m in Maryland, I’ve been going to Pure Barre Bethesda, and love it as well! The instructors are amazing, and I’ve so appreciated the welcoming community of fellow barre enthusiasts there.

Thanks so much for stopping by! x
